Maldivian delegate heads to Thailand to pay respect to late King

A Maldivian delegate, led by economic minister Mohamed Saeed as the Special Envoy to the President, have departed to Thailand on Thursday, to pay respect to the late King of Thailand, His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away on October 13 at the age of 88.
Minister Mohamed Saeed is accompanied by former Minister at the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hussain Niyaz.
The death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest-serving monarch, ends a remarkable seven-decade reign. His 64-year-old son, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, is his named successor.
Thailand is holding a one-year mourning period following the King's death.
