Maldivian to purchase new aircraft for fleet

National carrier, Maldivian has decided to purchase a new aircraft to add to its fleet.
Speaking to Vnews, Island Aviation's head of Administration Nashaath Ali said that they have finished all preparations in order to purchase the new aircraft. He estimated that the aircraft would be brought to Maldives in late September or early November, and would enter circulation in October.
He said that they are bringing in a Dash 8-300 model with a capacity of 50 seats.
With the new addition, the total aircraft number bring used by Island aviation will increase to 10.
He revealed that they are also working on purchasing an extra seaplane, however no further deals were shared regarding it.
He revealed that the reason for the new plane was to keep up with the increased demand, since there are more local destinations.
He added that the new plane would be used mostly for domestic flights.
