National health scheme Aasandha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with national airliner Maldivian, enabling the latter to become Aasandha’s exclusive travel partner.
The signing ceremony took place at the Island Aviation Office, where the company’s Managing Director Abdul Haaris Mohamed signed on behalf of Island Aviation, while Aasandha’s Managing Director Maumoon Abdul Samadh signed on behalf of Aasandha.
Haaris said that, under the agreement, patients who are registered in Aasandha will have their tickets arranged and their flights made through Maldivian, should they need to travel to other areas in the country, or to places abroad such as India and Sri Lanka, for treatment.
A select group of employees will be solely contributing to these services - which are considered to be more of a social service than a business profit. Additionally, if the flights are congested, the agreement will enable the utmost priority over the sick patients who are in dire need of medical services.
“I believe that money cannot put a price on efforts on saving a person’s life. That’s why the life of a person is more of a priority than anything else,” said Haaris.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Aasandha Company Manager Maumoon said that with the enabling of the agreement, all expenses made through Aasandha will be made reduced and made much easier. He added that the purpose of the agreement is to trade services between the state-run airliner and the state-run company, as well as to reduce the rate of Dollars being spent abroad.
