Maldivian sprinter Hassan Saeed has been given the position of Asia’s 12th fastest runner, after competing in the 100-meter dash semi-finals of the Asian Athletics Championship - held in China’s Wuhan.
Saeed qualified for the semi-finals after finishing third with 10.68 seconds in the sprint held this morning. The semi-finals were held later on, in which he finished with 10.50 seconds, but lost the chance to be in the finals, because he was not listed as the top eight fastest runners in the race.
Yet, he has now become the 12th fastest runner in Asia, due to his sprinting time in the championship.
Other Maldivian athletes have also participated in the Championship. Both Afaa Ismail and Hussain Haleem ran this morning, while Aminath Nazraa and Ahmed Hussain ran later in the day.
Maldivian athletes are competing in the men’s division 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, and 100m relay, and the women’s 100m, 200, and 400m run.
Hassan Saeed Hussain Haleem is competing in the men’s 100m dash. Hassan Saeed and Nujoom Hassan in the 100m, and Ahmed Hassan in 800m and 1500m.
Afaa Ismail will be in the women’s 100m and 200m dash, while Nazra will be in 200m and 400m.
