A Maldivian who returned from Bangladesh is being placed under quarantine.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) made the reveal late Friday, adding that this is being done under the set protocols.
The Maldivian is to undergo a quarantine period of 14 days.
Further details have not been revealed.
On Tuesday, the government banned arrivals from Bangladesh as part of the safeguards being implemented against the wide-spreading Covid-19 across the globe.
As such, all passengers and crew with a travel history to Bangladesh within the past 14 days will “not be allowed” to enter or transit through Maldives, effective from Tuesday till 24 March.
The announcement also reads that citizens of the aforementioned countries residing in another country or has been out of their homeland for over 14 days are abstained from the travel ban.
Authorities have also revealed that samples have been taken for testing, from two foreign national in Olhuveli Beach Resort.
They have been placed under home-isolation, revealed HPA.
The two foreigners are to have development Covid-19-like symptoms and the resort is currently under monitoring.
