Australian review site AirlineRatings.com has revealed the world's most dangerous airlines and three of the major airlines operating in the Maldives have been included in the list.
Airline Ratings is the only airline safety ranking site, which ranks the airlines based on audit reports and governmental records of the airlines.
The three Maldivian airlines included in the list are; National Maldivian airlines, Maldivian, Mega Maldives, Trans Maldivian Airways and Maldivian Air Taxi. Even though the list states Maldivian Air Taxi and Trans Maldivian Airways separately, the two companies have been merged and are now running under the name Trans Maldives.
The only airline which is operational in the Maldives, which did not make it into the list was FlyMe.
A total of 149 airlines achieved seven-stars while 58 scored six stars and almost 41 had just three stars or less.
Despite suffering two tragic flight incidents in the past year, Malaysia Airlines earned five out seven stars. The airline was involved in two major crashes last year when Flight MH370 went missing in March 2014 carrying 239 people.
