Maldivian economy has reached stability: President Yameen

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom says that the Maldivian economy has reached stability.
He made the statement addressing the special function held at the President’s Office to issue loans for youth fishermen and boat owners.
He said that Maldives being highlighted as a country striving towards economic development by finaicial institutes such as International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank is the result of perseverance in efforts to stabilize the economy.
“The objective is not making a record of it in a book. However, it iof such institutions in order to ensure that such future endeavors are facilitated”, said Yameen.
He added that if we manage to ensure that reports on Maldives by international financial institutions are positive, the possibility of more funds being set aside for proposals by Maldives, would be better.
The President said that he always wished for Maldivian Citizens to experience a peaceful life. He said that both the government and his party Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) believe that peace can be brought to the country, only if we have the courage to carry out activities in accordance with set values.
“The laws dictate values that we accept. Therefore I believe that it is necessary for the government to implement these laws in order to bring peace”, said Yameen.
Fourteen people have been selected for the Young Fishermen’s Loan. At the function, loan documents were handed over to some of them. A sum of 8.6 million Rufiyaa will be released in loans, in this scheme. They will have to repay the amounts with 6% interest.
