Ties between Maldivian-Chinese Parliaments are vital: Xi

Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized that the role played by the Parliament of Maldives is vital to the country’s development, and that it is important that the parliaments of both countries forge stronger ties.
President Xi made the statement in in the meeting held with Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh.
Parliament Secretariat reported that President Xi has said that China desired better relations with Maldives and that he had been fully briefed on the development projects required for Maldives. Xi had given the full assurance that China will be “more than obliged” to help Maldives however it can.
The Parliament Secretariat added that President Xi was very pleased with agreements that were signed between the two countries, and that it was surely to prove a lot of benefits to the Maldivian community.
Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh thanked the Chinese president for the bountiful contributions that he and China had pledged to Maldives. He too agreed with President Xi Jinping of the benefits that the agreements will pose on the Maldives.
President Xi Jinping’s official 2-day visit to the Maldives concludes today.
