Island Aviation has announced that they have reduced the fee taken from fruits and vegetable shipments (via Maldivian flights) from the atolls to Male’.
Speaking with Vnews, Maldivian’s head of cargo, Ahmed Saleem said that they reduced the fee taken from fruits and vegetables grown by farmers in the atolls, to provide it to customers in fresh quality.
“Farmers want a way to bring their produce to Male’ in fresh quality, so we reduced the price,” said Saleem.
He also revealed that the Fisheries Ministry is working on a system to market the goods cultivated by farmers, and that they have reduced the price at the request of the Ministry.
He also revealed that they have reduced the price taken to around 50 to 60 percent, adding that they would be able bring such goods at this rate - only if the cargo is over 45kg.
