Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) on Wednesday revealed that a total of 100 displaces families in Gaza are set to be provided shelter under the Maldives Sheltering Center (MSC), being developed with the aid provided by Maldivian residents.
QRC revealed the news in the first progress report of the works on relief efforts for the victims of the Gaza War, shared last Wednesday.
The Maldives Sheltering Center is set to accommodate at least 100 displaced families, equivalent to a total of 700 people. Eligible families would be offered a locally prefabricated shelter unit that suits the family size. The MSC will be constructed in a northern area of the Gaza Strip, close to demolished homes, and existing public facilities such as school, health clinic, market.
Sites of the MSC had already been handed over to the contractors on November 06th, and is set to progress under the direct supervision of QRC.
According to QRC, the pilot unit has been prepared and approved by QRC consultant, Palestinian Ministry of Housing, and representative committee of displaced people in Beit Hanoun.
They also revealed that a total of 13 hospitals and 54 primary health care centers in Gaza Strip would receive health facilities through provision of drugs & medical supplies by the end of December 2014.
