Maldivian footballers need to change technique of playing: Lonnstrom

Finnish Coach for New Radiant sports club, Mika Lonnstrom has announced that Maldivian football should change its customary style of playing to a more strategic attacking technique if they want accomplish better results.
Speaking at a press conference held at the National Football Stadium today, Lonnstrom who is a former coach to the Thai first division teams stated that Maldivian football players are indeed fast and talented players.
However, Lonnstrom noted that within his time as a coach for New Radiant, he has tried to change the technique of defensive playing to a more strategic attacking style of playing to attain better results. He added that during the break, 90 per cent of the time was dedicated to training the players to attack and stated that the changes will begin to show gradually.
“During the break I tried really hard to accustom the players to this new style of playing. I believe the results of that training will show its colors progressively,” Lonnstrom stated.
Speaking about their match tomorrow which will be played against BG Sports, Lonnstrom stated that the effort put in by players during the break will show itself as the League proceeds. He added that competition will be tougher after the break and that as the League continues, it would get more challenging as players improve as they go on.
Considering the point table, New Radiant currently stands at first place with 33 points. Second place is attained by Maaziya at 31 points and at third place is Club Eagles with 20 points.
Dhiraagu Dhivehi League will commence tomorrow with the first match played between Maaziya and AYL and New Radiant and BG competing in the second match which is scheduled to be played in the evening.
