Youth leadership camp held in Huraa to train young leaders

A Youth Leadership Camp organised by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness has been held in Huraa, Kaafu Atoll.
The three-day, held from 14 May until 16 May, brought together 31 participants. The camp was targeted for youth aged between 16 and 25 to develop leadership skills.
According to the ministry, the programme was conducted in collaboration with Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). MNDF-led activities included outdoor demonstrations on self-defence, leadership traits, functional leadership and command tasks. Fire awareness sessions and rescue swimming practical sessions were also conducted.
Meanwhile, sessions managed by the Maldives Police Service included sessions on crime prevention and rescue swimming theory. Additional sessions included sessions on youth, peace and security by the NCTC, and another on establishing a culture of helping others, and seeking assistance in difficult situations.
Participants were selected through an announcement issued earlier this month. According to the ministry, the camp aims to increase youth participation in society and develop responsible young leaders.
