MNP to the parliament regarding increased BML fraudulence

The Maldives National Party (MNP) has filed a case in parliament regarding the increased incidents of people losing money from their Bank of Maldives (BML) accounts.
The case, submitted by MNP Parliamentary Group Leader and Thimarafushi MP Abdulla Riyaz, has been referred to the parliament's State Owned Enterprise (SOE) Committee.
The complaint alleges that some BML customers have lost money from their accounts, but neither the company nor the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) have responded to the complaints.
The SOE committee has been requested to investigate the issue and address the concerns.
Complaints of scams withdrawing large sums of money from people's accounts have been on the rise, with two people recently arrested in connection with a case involving the withdrawal of over MVR 200,000 from someone's account.
BML has recently taken steps to strengthen security measures.
