First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has urged more women to prepare for emerging political opportunities.
She made the remark in her address on Saturday night at the Rehendhi Award 2024–2025.
In her address, Sajidha said that women are the driving force behind the revitalization and continued strength of any country.

She said that women themselves must recognize the enduring significance of the role they play in nurturing individuals of strong moral character and contributing to national development.
We must to fulfil this responsibility with diligence, integrity, and purpose, she said.
Highlighting on the expanding domestic, professional, and social responsibilities of women, Sajidha stressed the importance of technological proficiency, entrepreneurial innovation, and preparedness for emerging political opportunities.

“We need more entrepreneurial innovation. We need to prepare for the many political opportunities that are emerging. Maldivian women are certainly capable. Historically, Maldivian women have long been educated, intellectual, discerning, foresighted, dignified and fully capable of shouldering the responsibilities entrusted to them for ages,” she said.
Sajidha said that the Rehendhi Award celebrates the abilities, perseverance, resilience, and achievements of Maldivian women across a broad range of fields, and extended her heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the honorees.

She presented 14 women and a nonprofit organization that received the Rehendhi Award for 2024–2025 with their awards and commemorative brooches in recognition of their outstanding service.
Conferred by the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the Rehendhi Award recognizes women who have made exemplary contributions across key sectors of national service, as well as individuals and organizations working to advance gender equality and protect women’s rights in the Maldives.
