Additional medical equipment donated by the Chinese government and businesses arrive in Maldives.
The additional medical equipment, increasing the island nation’s inventory to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic reaching Maldives sometime on Saturday.
It was reported the inventory of equipment flown into Maldives on Saturday included 10 ventilators, 10,000 test kits and more than 200,000 face masks. In addition, several other crucial medical gear included in the consignment.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid expressed his appreciation to Chinese government for its continued support and assistance.
The recent aid from China includes donations from reputable and notable charities and NGOs and businesses which include Alibaba Foundation, Jack Ma Foundation, China Merchants Port Group Co Limited, China Machinery Engineering Corporation, Beijing Urban Construction Investment and Development Co Limited and Dongfang Electric International Corporation.
Other notable Chinese businesses extending their donations inclued China Harbor Engineering Company Limited, China Communications Second Navigational Bureau Second Engineering Co Limited as well as Huawei Technologies Co Limited.
