Rodrigo Koxa, a Brazilian big-wave surfer, relatively unknown to the world, on the fateful day of November 8, 2017, was towed into what Guinness World Records have now deemed the largest wave to have ever been surfed.

VIDEO: YOUTUBEAccording to Guinness World Records, the Brazilian surfer had broken the previous world record that stood at 78-feet (23.77m) with an even heavier and meaner 80-foot (24.38m) wave at Nazare’ Portugal.
The previous world record holder, Garrett McNamara had also surfed on the beaches of Nazare for his world record wave.

Andrew later went on to win the World Surf Leagues’ Big Wave Awards as wipeout of the year.
