Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi stated that healthy family relations are a key factor needed to establish a healthy and well-balanced society.
In a statement released on the occasion of International Family Day, Minister Aishath said that the society and family relations are closely interlinked with each other, and in order for one to be healthy, the other needs to be as well.
Highlighting that this year, Family Day greets us amidst a time when many families are going through various difficulties due to the global pandemic COVID-19. She went on to note the patience and strength shown by families in supporting each other at this time and expressed her sincerest gratitude. Particularly those families whose loved ones tested positive and are quarantined, those in isolation due to contact tracing and those whose families are at the frontline.
"One of the biggest lesson COVID-19 taught us is the significance of family relations. There is an important role played by each member to make a family healthy and well-balanced family. Hence, it is essential that everyone in the family contributes to overcoming every individual member's hurdles."

Furthermore, Minister Aishath noted that the ongoings in a society heavily reflect on family relations and vice versa, and at this delicate time, each citizen must believe that strengthening family relations is a necessity for the betterment of the society, and by extension, the nation.
She urged every citizen to respect, care for and be responsible towards one another.
Concluding the statement, the Gender Minister prayed that the nation could overcome the ongoing crisis and espressed hopes for more prosperous days in the future.
