SnapJet: The Polaroid-style photo printer for all smartphones alike

A new Impossible Lab challenger، by the name of SnapJet lets you print high-res Polaroid-style pictures from your smartphone.
Illustrated instructions on how to use the device.
The device، which seeks funding in Kickstarter، allows you to print pictures without the use of connectivity devices like، WiFi، Bluetooth، USB cables or even NFC.
It uses the simple mechanism of placing your phone screen down on the scanner end of the SnapJet device، which then proceeds to take scan and print out on Polaroid 300 or Fujifilm Intax. The device uses light from your phone’s screen، develops high resolution pictures up to 1،200 dpi (Dots Per Inch).
The innovative team behind SnapJet wrote about their easy to use، printer device، which highlighted on how the device achieved high resolution image printing.
“After a few experiments، we realised that the light emitted from a smartphone could be used to develop a photo. Smartphone displays like iPhone’s retina display have achieved amazing resolutions at 326ppi or higher، and they are all carefully color corrected. The light emitted from them could produce a beautiful print on instant film — if only there was a way to focus that light،”
And added، “SnapJet combines vintage analog instant film and cutting-edge fiber optic technology to do just that. It’s a modern reinvention of a beautiful، artistic، and expressive medium. We can’t wait to bring it to the world.”
The SnapJet device is designed to accommodate all phone sizes، and all smartphone types with its small، sleeker chassis achieved by the use of optical fibers instead of adopting lenses، and also an array which the developer team claims of capable of transferring image from one surface to the other.
It is an open source device which has an OLED display، with USB and BLE compatibility، and they stated “We’ll release all of our designs and schematics to the community. You’ll get our printed circuit board files، our CAD models، and anything you would need to build a fully working SnapJet. We want to empower our users to hack، re-program، and re-purpose SnapJet، even commercially،”
It is expected to have a price tag of $129 on an early bird pledge with a possible delivery date in December 2015.
More information regarding SnapJet will be available in the Kickstarter Project Page or SnapJet Website.
