There are no evidences received to the authorities to prove any connections between the former Vice President Ahned Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor and the disappearance of the Minivan News (now Maldives Independent) Ahmed Rilwan، says Home Minister Umar Naseer.
Speaking at DhiTV’s “Khabaruge Therein” programme on Tuesday evening، Umar said five people have been arrested، including the driver of the red car believed to be used to abduct Rilwan.
Umar had previously said that matter will be probed to see if ex-VP Adeeb had any hand in the disappearance of Rilwan.
“We can only confirm of any links with solid evidences. Otherwise we cannot say for sure، as we are responsible for what we say. So far، there are no evidences to prove Adeeb was involved in the case. We are investigating the case further as we are getting such reports،” Umar said.
Though some arrests were made previously regarding the case، the arrested persons were released later. However، Police made two arrests about two weeks back، who are still being held in police custody.
