Knowing the whereabouts of the missing journalist of Minivan News، Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla، is one of the utmost concern of the Police، says Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed.
During a meeting held with Media Council today، CP Waheed noted that Maldives Police Service (MPS) is undertaking sincere efforts to find Rilwan، despite many using the case as a political tool.
He said the Police will not halt the investigation or the efforts، even if the matter is being used as a political tool or another headline for the media.
CP Waheed said it is concerning that such a case is being politicized.
Furthermore، highlighting that numerous efforts are being undertaken currently in finding the missing reporter، CP Waheed said the investigation team is reviewing the reports، re-checking video footage and other sources of information.
Speaking at the meeting، the head of Serious and Organized Crime Unit، Superintendent of Police Abdulla Shatheeh said the developments of the case and the investigation is being shared with Rilwan’s family.
Highlighting that the authority has not received a credible report of Rilwan’s death، Shatheeh further said the authority is closely working with the family on the matter.
Maldives Media Council has inquired the necessary information following the reports submitted to the council regarding Rilwan’s missing case.
