Speaking during a press conference held in the President's Office yesterday, Home Minister highlighted that the CNI's report had clearly detailed the illegal actions of Nasheed during his time as President and "his lies" have been revealed to the whole world. "I would like to say that there is nothing more the government has to determine. I want to make it clear that no international partner can advise the government to sit-down with Nasheed or his MDP (Maldivian Democratic Party) for discussions. The Maldivian government will not heed such advise. That is not something we will agree to. The debate ends here," he stressed in the joint press conference held with Attorney General Aishath Azima Shakoor and Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim yesterday. Dr Jameel further added that the CNI's report had clearly put down the constitutional violations and illegal actions of Nasheed. Moreover, the report also shows that Nasheed had betrayed the people of the Maldives, he said. "The betrayal was that Nasheed had issued illegal orders and the events that transpired were a direct result of Nasheed's actions. From the very start we have been stressing that Nasheed wasn't fit for the post. His incompetence from the time he became President was the reason that led to his resignation. There was no leadership. He did not have the capability or the ability," Home Minister alleged. He further pledged to not back down even an inch in ensuring the safety and security of the people. To that end, he warned that no room would be given to incite and encourage violence, destruction of public and private property. "We are prepared to do whatever is necessary to prevent such things," he vowed. During the press conference Jameel had described Nasheed as a "habitual liar" and urged the youth to be weary of that fact. Home Minister alleged that by being behind Nasheed, the youth only learn to jump Police barricades and attack Police officers. The only outcome is to be held answerable in front of the Police and the Prosecutor General and spending time away from family in jail, he added. "Is this what you want to achieve? Everyone needs to re-focus on the nation. Every single day families meet me and say that my son or daughter had gone there (MDP protest) by mistake. It won't happen again. Young women come to me and say their husbands are in that situation. They had gone there by mistake and they are devastated because of it. So I advise you all to put the nation first rather than resort to such things," Home Minister concluded.
