Foreign secretary of India pays visit to Maldives

The Foreign Secretary of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, arrived in the Maldives on an official trip Wednesday amidst high domestic political tension.
Secretary Jaishankar was received by the Foreign Secretary of the Maldives Dr Ali Naseer and the Ambassador of India to the Maldives, Akhilesh Mishra.
During his visit, the Indian foreign secretary will call on top diplomats and governmental figures of the Maldives to strengthen the relations between the two South Asian neighbours, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
