An additional 1.8 MW generator is being sent to southernmost Addu City to address power outages faced by the city.
This will become the third generator to be sent to Addu in three months to solve the city’s electricity issue. A similar 1.8 MW generator was sent earlier, just before Ramadan commenced.
The Central Power Station, which supplies electricity to Hithadhoo and connected islands in Addu City, has been experiencing frequent power outages for several months due generator malfunctions.
A Fenaka official said Addu City has been facing renewed power disruptions since Sunday after a generator failed while the second generator was undergoing repairs.
