Deputy leader of Jumhooree Party، Ameen Ibrahim who was arrested over the Mayday protests، gets his case on appeal following remand extension.
Ameen’s advocate team had appealed his case at the Criminal Court sometime today، while he was taken under arrest for being identified as a threat for the community by authorities.
Ameen Ibrahim has been granted a remand period of 15 days following his involvement in Mayday protests.
Police who spoke at the Remand Committee had stated Ameen’s dialogue at Mayday event had been an provocative delivery which had acted as a catalyst for the supporters to persuade violence in the Friday clashes that had seen dreadful end results.
Apart from Jumhooree Party’s deputy leader، Sheikh Imran Abdullah and MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed’s remand case had been put forward for appeal as well.
Several others from the protester mob were incarcerated following the Friday clashes between police and public.
