Prosecutor General Muhtaz Muhsin has said that the case of 89 suspects who were charged over terrorism in Thinadhoo by the government for having burnt G.Dh Atoll Council Office, Thinadhoo Court, Thinadhoo Police Station and all police vehicles on 8 February 2012, will be sent back to the court for prosecution.
Prosecutor General made this remark in view of the decision of the Criminal Court to abolish the case because the attorney from the PG office failed to attend the last hearing.
Muhtaz said that the Prosecutor General’s office was not informed in the official office hours regarding the hearing scheduled yesterday. He said that the case will be resent to the Court today.
He said that the abolishment of the case will be appealed in the High Court as well.
The hearing was scheduled to be held at 10:00 in the morning yesterday. The court cancelled the hearing and abolished the case when the PG attorney failed to attend the hearing.
The 17 suspects who were under police custody until testimonies from 55 witnesses presented by the government were yesterday.
