The State has appealed the 13-year prison sentence against former president Mohamed Nasheed in High Court.
An official of the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office told Sun Online that the appeal case was lodged yesterday.
Meanwhile Nasheed is under house arrest, following President Abdulla Yameen’s decision to allow him to serve the remaining part of his sentence under house arrest.
Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in prison in March 2015 for ordering the abduction in 2012, during his presidency, of Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed.
