The special structure developed in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi City in memory of the hero who was martyred while defending the Maldivian nation during the tragic attack of November 3, 1988, Shaheed Hussain Adam of Maavagē, Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi, was officially inaugurated this afternoon. This structure was developed under the initiative of Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif, with a design concept from the City Council and funded by the Council’s budget, to keep alive the memory of Corporal Hussain Adam’s great sacrifice for the nation and to showcase the hero’s courage and national love as an example for future generations. The structure was inaugurated this afternoon at the ceremony by Mayor Mohamed Athif and, representing the family of Martyr Hussain Adam, Ahmed Adam, Aishath Yumna Ahmed, and Fathimath Neema Abdul Rasheed. The structure was designed to symbolize the AK-47 rifle and the bullet-hit wall that Martyr Hussain Adam was holding that day, and when viewed from above, it resembles a shield. Furthermore, the structure is established in Bandara Maidhaan, the area where boats used to dock in Kulhudhuffushi, which was the last place Martyr Hussain Adam spent time in the island before departing for Malé. This structure will serve as a place to renew the memory of all the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation, a special structure that demonstrates that the blood of sacrifice shed on Maldivian soil by Corporal Hussain Adam, a hero the entire Maldives is proud of, is an unforgettable memory. It is certain that this structure, developed for the hero who bravely retaliated against the terrorists to defend this beloved homeland during that brutal terrorist attack, will serve as a place to renew the memory of the hero’s courage and national love as an example for future generations.
