A man has been found dead in a freshwater lake in the Hithadhoo district of Addu City.
According to a police spokesperson, the discovery of the man’s body in the Aari Kilhi was reported to the authorities at around 09:33 am on Wednesday.
He was already deceased when taken to the Addu Equatorial Hospital, said the spokesperson, citing the hospital’s doctors.
The police identified the deceased only as a male of foreign nationality, and have yet to disclose any further details.
A video shared on social media purportedly of the man shows his body floating face down in the lake.
The case is under investigation by the police.
