Gaza is the property of the Palestinian people, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has asserted. He made the remark while delivering the Presidential Statement at the opening of the Parliament this year.
In his address, the President said the Maldives will always choose peace over conflict. The Maldives will not accept crimes such as occupation of other countries' lands, loss of life and violation of human dignity, he said.
"The land of Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. The Maldives will never support any attempt to expel Palestinians from Gaza," he stated.
President Muizzu said he would always advocate for the establishment of a separate Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders and the recognition of East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. The President assured that the Maldives government will give full cooperation to the Palestinian people to ensure Palestine is recognised as a separate state.
