President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday announced the completion of land reclamation for Hulhumale' Phase III.
The third phase of the Hulhumale' development project was first launched in September 2023 under the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. At the time, 24 hectares of land were dredged.
Capital Marine and Civil Construction (CMCC) was contracted to reclaim a total of 63 hectares for the third phase. After delays, dredging of the remaining 38 hectares resumed on November 10 last year.

The work was carried out using two trailing suction hopper dredgers, TSHD Prins der Nederlanden and TSHD Oranje, each with a capacity of 22,000 cubic metres.
A draw to allocate plots in the newly reclaimed area was held on December 20, according to the Housing Ministry. The lottery was conducted among recipients who had previously been handed land in the area.
