Government begins distributing Ramadan fish cases to 118,773 households across Maldives

The government has begun distributing canned fish cases as Ramadan gifts in Male' City, with deliveries starting on Saturday evening.
This year, 118,773 households across the Maldives will receive 48 cans per household, including 56,918 households in the atolls and 61,855 households in Male' City.
Distribution in Male' runs nightly from 2000 hrs to 2300 hrs, with 300 tokens issued per night. Recipients must present electricity meter numbers and bill details, and a dedicated portal has been launched to streamline token collection.
According to Local Governance Minister Adam Shareef Umar, 4,805 households in Male' had already registered through the portal by Saturday evening.
Fish cases are also being dispatched to the atolls, with deliveries expected to reach all islands by the end of the week, the minister said.

Minister Adam Shareef previously assured that no one would need to queue, and that the distribution would be efficient and orderly.
Each case of fish cans retails at MVR 760, meaning the total value of the 118,000 cases distributed is approximately MVR 89.6 million.
