Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the recipients of its housing grant for vulnerable families launched earlier this year, as part of monthly initiatives to celebrate its upcoming 40th anniversary.
Through the housing grant, the bank is funding the construction and furnishing of houses for three vulnerable families across the country.
Local Councils and NGOs were invited to nominate families in need of safe housing.
BML announced on Monday that it has selected three recipients of the grant, through a comprehensive evaluation process.
The recipients are:
Sukoon, Sh. Funadhoo (proposal submitted by Unity Sports Academy)
Ishaa, N. Velidhoo (proposal submitted by Velidhoo Future Foundation)
Sunhiyaa, ADh. Maamigili (Proposal submitted by Falcon Youth and Recreation)
Commenting on the housing grant, Aishath Noordeen, BML’s In-Charge and Acting MD, said supporting communities with initiatives such as the housing grant, was a main focus of the bank’s CSR strategy.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to support the most vulnerable members in our society and I’m confident our financial support to these housing projects will help generate significant positive and enduring impact for these families for years to come,” he said.
BML has launched ten monthly initiatives to celebrate its 40th anniversary since November 2021. The initiatives are:
November 2021: BML Scholarship Fund
December 2021: Upgrading the National Library
January 2022: BML Startup Grant
February 2022: Housing Grant
March 2022: Small Grants
April 2022: Support to upgrade Home for People with Special Needs
May 2022: Online fundraising platform Kindly
June 2022: BML Fehi Project
July 2022: Upgrading the Maldives National Museum
August 2022: Establishment of oncology ward at IGMH
BML will celebrate its 40th anniversary in November.
