Maldives main bank doubles visa debit card limits abroad

Maldives main bank has doubled their Visa Debit Card Daily Foreign Spend limits for customers overseas. Bank of Maldives Limited ( BML ) announced in a press release Sunday that they have increased their cash withdrawal limit from the previous amount of USD 200 to USD 400 at ATMs abroad, while the POS transaction limit has been increased to USD 600 per day. The bank also raised the bar on their maximum daily limit to USD 1000, which was previously USD 600. BML said the changes were brought about in response to customer feedback in a move to enhance their services. The bank’s Retail Banking Director, Mohamed Shareef added that the improvement will be an ease for locals travelling abroad during the year-end holiday season and students studying abroad. BML had earlier limited the daily cash withdrawal to USD 200 and POS transactions to USD 400 in August 2009 due to dollar shortage. Prior to these changes in 2009, BML Visa Debit Card customers can transfer up to USD 3000 via POS terminals.
