New breakthroughs into Rilwan’s case

An eye witness had reported seeing a man being dragged forcibly into a car from in front of Rilwan’s apartment in Hulhumale’, the night he disappeared. Though the police have not yet confirmed whether the man witnessed being abducted that night was Rilwan, Haveeru has been informed that police had confiscated a car last week as part of their investigation into the case and had brought some people connected with the car in for questioning. The police refused to comment and would only say that the investigation was ongoing at full speed to solve the case of Rilwan, last caught on CCTV camera in Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal in Male’ around 12:45 am, August 8. Immigration Department confiscated four passports Wednesday, as part of the investigation. The breakthroughs come with Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed set to appear for a meeting with Majlis National Security Committee Wednesday night at 8:30 pm. Home Minister Umar Naseer has been summoned as well, but will not be able to attend the meeting as he is out of the country at the moment. Rilwan’s disappearance, 3 weeks ago, came at a time when, according to his family and Minivan News, the journalist had been riddled with threats. Rilwan’s family and friends are carrying out their own search efforts to find Rilwan and have announced reward money of MVR 200,000 for anyone with viable information that could help with the investigation.
