Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has requested for a party to carry out Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) for reclamation projects in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo and Addu City Feydhoo.
Under the Environment Protection and Preservation Act of Maldives، an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) needs to be conducted prior to the starting of projects similar to land reclamation.
The Ministry’s announcement states the interested parties should submit EIA proposal for reclamation projects in Thinadhoo and Feydhoo before 11am on February 5.
The reclamation projects are included in the Budget for this year. The reclamation projects of Thinadhoo and Feydhoo are Rf. 197 million، and Rf. 170 million respectively.
Projected land size to be reclaimed in Thinadhoo is 55 hectares. In Feydhoo، 46 hectares is projected to be reclaimed.
