Islamic University of the Maldives has revealed that they are planning to hold an international conference of scholars on 19 and 20th of this month. They said that this will be the largest conference of this kind ever to be held in the Maldives.
Speaking at a press conference held by Islamic University, Dr.Deeba Moosa said that previously also some conferences has been held in the Maldives but this one will be the conference with the highest participation of foreign scholars. Dr.Deeba said that 27 scholars from abroad will participate in the conference and those includes scholars from world famous universities. She said that all of them are expected to give lectures at the conference. In addition, 29 scholars from Maldives will also participate in the conference.
Dr.Deeba Moosa said that Islamic University will always encourage a culture of seeking knowledge and researching in the Maldives. She said that this conference is also part of the university’s initiative to do that.
Scholars from Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Bahrain, UK and USA will participate in the conference. Papers will be submitted to the conference in English, Dhivehi and Arabic. Topics to be discussed include issues in the Maldives and international topics as well.
So far more than 150 people have expressed interest in taking part in the conference as observers.
