High Court to issue verdict on the appealed case of Thinadhoo

High Court on Sunday will issue a verdict on the Thinadhoo Arson Case، which was appealed to the High Court by Prosecutor General’s Office after it was withdrawn by Criminal Court.
The session of High Court was tabled at 14:00 on Sunday.
A hearing was held on Wednesday last week after PG Office appealed the case to High Court. The hearing was attended by a state lawyer from PG Office and lawyers representing the two defendants، accused for the Arson case.
The state lawyer has denied the claims by Criminal Court made saying that the court received no support from the state lawyers assigned by PG Office. She also said that the Prosecutors believe that a case should be withdrawn during a court session with the presence of prosecutors and the defendants، to justify Criminal Court withdrawing the case by the means of a letter.
Criminal Court withdrew the case during the testimony of witnesses.
The state accused 89 people from Thinadhoo for Terrorism regarding the torching of Government buildings on February 8th، 2014، following the resignation of President Mohamed Nasheed on 7th February 2012.
