Speaking to Vaguthu President of TAM Athif Abdul Hakeem said about 25 principals will reportedly leave their jobs by next year if the matters regarding teachers’ salaries and other necessities are not resolved – unless of course، they are ‘obliged’ to be in the job.
Athif said the 25 principals are all trained head of schools، while most of the heads of schools in Maldives are not professionally trained.
“By Principals، I mean trained professional Principals. About 65% of head of schools are not trained Principals in Maldives.” Athif said.
Athif further said that many Principals with Masters Degree in School Management are already seeking other jobs.
He added that many teachers will also leave the profession by next year. However، he did not mention any exact or estimated amount.
