Civil Court has ruled that an interim order cannot be issued in the case of Thaa atoll Elaa against the Tourism Ministry as requested by the Villa Group.
Villa Group had submitted to Court on 10 February 2015 to issue an interim order to nullify the notice the Government had sent with regards to abolishing the settlement agreement with Thaa atoll Elaa.
Noting that an interim order may affect the essence of the case، the ruling of Civil Court Justice، Judge Abdul Nasir Shafeeq stated that the court cannot issue an interim order.
A hearing was held on the case once، on 12th February 2015.
The cases were submitted by Villa Shipping، Villa Hotels and Resoirts، Villa Holidays، and daughter companies of Villa Group; Gazeera Pvt Ltd and Manafushi Pvt Ltd.
The Group had submitted five cases against Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) with regards to the US $100 million penalty fee، and five cases against Tourism Ministry for abolishing the settlement agreements.
Although the Civil Court had issued an interim order to nullify acting on the notice issued on K. Bolidhuffalhu and K. Vaaveddhi Falhu، High Court nullified the interim orders.
Civil Court on Wednesday had ruled that the court cannot issue an interim order against Tourim Ministry in the case of Maadhiggaru Falhu and Kanuhura Falhu awarded to Villa Holidays.
