Over 400 trees have been planted in Kulhudhuffushi to celebrate International Day of Older Persons.
Initiated by Kulhudhuffushi Children’s Services Center، the trees were planted in the land reclaimed in the island.
In addition to elderly people، school students، members of atoll council and some other institutions also participated in this programme which was conducted to celebrate International Day of Older Persons.
Kulhudhuffushi Online reported that the chief guest of this programme، president of the atoll council، Hussain Shageef said that if today’s youth leave older people uncared and unloved for، then in the future، there will be no one to take care of them either.
While a total of 410 trees were planted، the number also coincides with the number of older people in Kulhudhuffushi.
