Former President Mohamed Nasheed، the leader of the opposition who has been sentenced to prison for 13 years on terrorism charges، will remain in prison for the remainder of his sentence، says Maldives Correctional Services (MCS).
MCS has on Sunday evening taken Nasheed، who was previously under house arrest at Maafannu Yaagoothuge، under MCS supervision at Kaafu atoll Maafushi Prison.
The services’ media coordinator Moosa Rameez told local media that the authority took the decision to transfer Nasheed to the authority’s facility at Maafushi on Sunday، after assessing his medical reports.
