Former Defence Minister، Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleygefaanu، who is currently serving a ten year jail sentence after being convicted of terror charges، has been treated at IGMH.
Information has been received that he was consulted to an orthopedist today.
Terror charges were pressed on Tholhath for forcefully arresting Chief Justice of Criminal Coirt، Abdulla Ghaazee.
The verdict of the court stated that Tholhath’s involvement in Abdulla Ghazee’s arrest was proven by Tholhath’s on statement in the court and the evidences presented by the government against him.
The sentence was issued on the counts of 5 elements presented by the State; The President decided to detain Abdulla Ghaazee، Tholhath was involved in the planning and the execution of the decision، MNDF had arrested Abdulla Ghaazee، Abdulla Ghaazee was kept in Girifushi and Abdulla Ghaazee was arrested forcefully.
The verdict statement notes that Tholhath admitted to five of these elements.
These elements include The President’s decision to detain Abdulla Ghaazee، Abdulla Ghaazee was arrest and kept in Girifushi.
A witness presented by the government stated that Tholhath said that even if he has to spend 40 years in prison for arresting Abdulla Ghaazee، he would do that.
A witness also stated that Tholhath said that none of the inspectors of police will have to taken upon themselves the blame of arresting Abdulla Ghaazee.
