BML celebrates Women’s Day by taking female staffs for fishing

The Bank of Maldives (BML) has celebrated the International Women’s Day by taking their female employees on a fishing trip.
Organized in collaboration with the Association of Maldivian Fishermen, the initiative was aimed at teaching women fishing skills and provide them with the experience.
The BML initiative saw participation from 30 women which included female employees of the bank as well as a few from Gemanafushi.
The national bank of the Maldives is notable for its CSR activities as well as events towards women empowerment.
The fishing trip organized by BML commenced on Saturday with the participants first attempting to catch bait at dawn.
It was reported within two hours the participants had caught 300-kilogram worth of fish.
Speaking about the event, the Deputy CEO of BML Ms Aishath Nooraddeen said that providing an opportunity for the women employed at the bank brings great joy, adding that such initiatives show how important the role of women is in a society.
The national bank of Maldives organized several activities to celebrate the International Women’s Day. Apart from the fishing trip, the bank has also arranged the availability of sanitary napkins for free.
In addition to this, the bank also donated to two organizations well-known in their role of women empowerment.
BML had donated MVR46,000 each to ‘Women In Tech’ and ‘Family Legal Clinic’ in celebration of Women’s Day.
