MWSC have said that even though they are spending a lot on developing the water systems of Male’ and Hulhumale’ they have no plans of increasing the price of water.
Answering to a question by Miadhu News, MD of MWSC Ibrahim Fazul said that based on the experience of MWSC they are developing multiple water treatment plants in Male’ and Hulhumale’ but they do not intend to charge more for water.
Fazul said that to cover the cost, they will utilize practices like producing large quantities in one plant. He said that based on the plans the largest water treatment plant will be developed in Hulhumale’. He said that this plant will be used to supply water for the second phase of Hulhumale’ even.
MWSC is also working to develop two more water treatment plants in Male’ as a backup in case something happens to the main plant in Male’. The company has invested large amounts in all these projects.
