Speaking to the press after being questioned by the police tonight, Leader of Jumhooree Party Qasim Ibrahim said that it was all politics and it is not a big deal.
Qasim said that he was summoned to the police regarding a speech he gave about the no confidence motion against Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
“Like everyone else, even I talked in that regard. I said that, I will assist and support Party’s MPs in future elections too if they vote in line with the party whip line. That is something I should say” said Qasim.
Qasim said that the police fulfilled their responsibility since someone complained about the matter. He said that the police acted professionally. He said that the experience was very different from what he experienced in 2004.
Qasim thanked police for investigating the case so quickly. “I hope that the police investigates all other cases at this pace” said Qasim.
Qasim said that challenges will arise when you are out in the ocean and that it is not a problem and not a reason to hesitate.
Qasim said that he has a personel reason s to carry out carry out reform work. He said that he is working for reform and that reason is to make the country a better place. “People who want development for the nation will be selfish in that regard. It is one of my greatest desires to see the country being developed” said Qasim.
Qasim said that he will continue working in this reform movement with the opposition parties until things improve in the country.
