Putin to Visit Tehran for Meeting with Presidents of Iran and Türkiye

The Kremlin reports that President of Russia, Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit Tehran to meet with President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on July 19th.
The trilateral meeting at Tehran is part of Astana Peace Process talks related to Syria. In the press conference in Moscow, it was informed that in his visit, President Putin will also be meeting with President Erdogan separately.
Russia and Iran are allies of Syrian government and aided in freeing Syria of rebel groups such as ISIS and Nusra.
The priority of Putin’s visit will be planning for the development of economic cooperation with Iran since US and European countries imposed sanctions on Russia over the invasion of Ukraine.
The visit to Tehran is the second visit of the Russian leader since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
