187 Tourists Currently Remain in the Maldives: Minister Ali Waheed

Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed has revealed that 187 tourists are still stranded in the Maldives due to the travel restrictions imposed to contain the outbreak of COVID-19, speaking at the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC)’s news briefing on Monday.
According to Minister Waheed, the stranded tourists are currently accommodated at the Dream Island Resort and the ministry is closely working with the foreign ministry to arrange the repatriations of the tourists.
Furthermore, UK, Italy, Russia, Indonesia, Philippines and the EU has already evacuated most of their nationals in the Maldives.
The Maldives suspended issuing on-arrival visa to tourists as a measure to restrict the spread of COVID-19.
The total confirmed cases of the COVID-19 patients reported from Maldives has reached 228 on Tuesday morning.
