Several international media agencies had reported the arrest of the former President Mohamed Nasheed on Monday.
Former President and the leader of the opposition، Mohamed Nasheed was apprehended by the Police on terrorism charges for imprisoning the chief justice of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed during his presidential term.
BBC reported President Nasheed was arrested on terrorism charges for ordering to detain a chief judge on unlawful grounds.
Hindustan Times reported Nasheed’s arrest saying he was arrested on terrorism charges، and upon a court order، which states he needs to be detained as there are chances he might not attend the court proceedings.
The Hindu newspaper reported in reference with the documents of PG Office، as reported by Associated Press، President Nasheed was arrested today for detaining a judge in 2012.
