The concerns and statements issued by some foreign countries and bodies will not be acceptable، regarding the case of former president Mohamed Nasheed who has been sentenced to prison for 13 years، Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon said.
Speaking at a press conference held earlier today، Foreign Minister said the foreign countries cannot interfere with the sovereignty and domestic affairs of the Maldives.
“We do not mind even if they do not accept the information by the Government on Nasheed’s case،” Dunya said.
She said the government has been briefing the foreign countries and bodies regarding the ex-President Nasheed’s transfer back to the prison after being held under home detention.
Minister Dunya further expressed concerns that UK and U.S، being huge democracies، are criticizing and attempting to interfere the domestic affairs of the Maldives.
She also said the leaked document، claimed of Maldives Correctional Services، is a forged document، and the matter has been briefed to the international community as well.
