Police has reported that in the special operation conducted at Laamu atoll to combat against illegal drug using and selling، Police has searched 6 places and a boat.
In the operation conducted by South Central Police division in collaboration with Drug Enforcement department’s police، L. atoll’s police and Directorate of intelligence، the Police searched 2 places using K9 squad on 21st April.
The two places searched using the K9 squad is two houses from L.Gan.
Yesterday، 4 places and a boat was searched; two shops، two warehouses and a boat.
Police said that all the islands in the atoll including inhabited، uninhabited and industrial islands would be searched in this operation along with the places belonging to people suspected of importing illegal drugs and alcohol to the atoll would be searched as well.
This is the first Police operation of its kind being conducted in the atolls.
This is the first operation launches to tackle drugs in atolls using “Faara Gema”.
